November 'Currently'

Well guys I aimed for the 1st but didn't quite make it! Still… a day late is better than never! Here is my November Currently link up with Farley over at Oh' Boy 4th Grade-
I'm so pleased it's November as I adore Bonfire Night and once November 5th is out of the way I will well and truly start my Christmas prep.

I love X Factor but have to admit that half the people on it ruin amazing songs week in week, out and yet I still watch it!

I received an amazing SLANT box from the lovely Brittany at Tickled Pink in Primary.
I love everything and can't wait to sign up again.
If you fancy taking part then head over to Jameson's blog Lessons With Coffee and read all about it.

Our Learning Challenge this Half Term is 'What is it like at the Polar Regions?' and we are using the amazing 'The Emperor's Egg' by Martin Jenkins as our focus text. We like our Guided Reading texts to link in with the rest of the curriculum and allow the children to gather further ideas and information to connect with their wider learning. Unfortunately we don't have many texts about Polar Regions or animals that can be found at the Poles to use so if you have any recommendations then please leave a comment.

  1. You have me interested in the slant box and I'm now going to check it out. I find myself reading children's books as well to get ready for class.

  2. Wow! Looks like you got a wonderful SLANT box. I've contemplated participating in that since it started, but I haven't taken the plunge. But that would definitely be a fun package to receive!

    1. I love our next theme- it's one of my faves! Anything would be great- I've searched on Amazon and there are loads but it's always useful if someone can recommend them- I love teaching Guided Reading but finding good non-fiction texts is always a chore! Xx

  4. I love The Emperor's Egg - my class learned so much from it when we looked at polar regions last year. I'll have a think about other texts too. I can't watch the X Factor - it makes me cringe too much - I just stick to Strictly! Your SLANT box was amazing - I didn't realise you could sign up if you didn't live in the states!

    1. I thought it was just an American thing too but then I read up and I loved taking part! Polar Regions is one of my fave topics- I've spent all half term paper mache-ing a balloon for our WOW hook! The things we do! Oh I'm not a Strictly fan and if truth be told I don't think I'm an X Factor fan anymore either- it's more of a habit watch! Xx

    1. Woohoo- we both made it! It most certainly is an awesome SLANT- such a great thing to be part of! I don't think The Voice is quite as big here- they tend to have annoying people on a judges! X Factor has been going for years here but I think you guys have only had a couple of seasons. I used to love watching American Idol until they put Nikki Minaj and Mariah Carey on it! Xx
